Global Advertising Industry honour for Khamis Al Muqla, President IAA Bahrain Chapter
Mr. Al Muqla, a founder of the IAA Bahrain Chapter established in 1993 and Chairman of the Gulf Marcom Group, was honored for the third time by the international advertising industry. Previously in Moscow and London and this time in the Romanian capital, Bucharest. He was granted an Honorary Life Membership Award for his service to the IAA and his work as a communication leader.
The event in Bucharest paid tribute to a number of distinguished personalities at the 2018 IAA Inspire Awards and Gala dinner held on Tuesday, October 2nd. IAA World President and Chairman, Felix Tataro, presented the Inspire Award and Honorary Life Membership to Khamis Al Muqla, saying, “This is in recognition of your contribution to advancing the aims and objectives of the IAA in the Kingdom of Bahrain and your long and distinguished services in supporting the Association’s activities and the global marketing communications industry.”
Commenting on the nominations, Heather Leembruggen, IAA VP & Chairman of the IAA Inspire Awards selection committee said, “We were delighted with the calibre of the nominees and the spread of countries represented in the entries we received.”
Mr Al Muqla, referring to the honour, said, “It is indeed gratifying to be recognized for one’s contribution along with venerable members from Romania and Sri Lanka.”
Previously, in 2013 in London, Khamis Al Muqla received a special honor for his leadership role, vision and commitment to developing and advancing the advertising and marketing communications industry in Bahrain and the region. In 2010 Mr Al Muqla received the Medal of Merit during the World Advertising Congress in Moscow, for his notable contributions and services to the Association in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Middle East. This is an accolade granted by the Association to selected world industry leaders since 2015.
Mr Al Muqla has also won Bahrain’s Medal of First Class, conferred by His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the advertising and marketing communications sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region. Khamis Al Muqla is a member of the High Authority for Information and Communications under the chairmanship of H.H. Shaikh Abdulla Bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He was featured in the list of top 50 influential figures in Bahraini society, according to a 2009 Arabian Business magazine poll, as well as one of the most influential figures in the business sector in Bahrain for the year 2018, according to the recent ‘Business in Gulf’ Magazine.
Mr. Al Muqla was among the first to join the International Advertising Association from Bahrain and the Gulf region, and represented the Kingdom of Bahrain at the International Advertising Congress held in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1978. He has contributed to the establishment of several professional associations in the field of advertising and public relations, in addition to organizing conferences, exhibitions and events in Bahrain, the Gulf region and other Arab countries, including three IAA global conferences held in Beirut, Cairo and Dubai.
Mr. Al Muqla is the founder of Gulf Marcom Group (GMG), established in Bahrain in 1974, known as Gulf Public Relations (GPR), and its activities covered many business sectors in advertising, marketing communications, public relations, publications, publishing, translation, event management and other related services in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region. Mr. Al Muqla is the founder and Chairman of Hill + Knowlton Strategies M.E. established in 1985. Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K) is a global public relations and integrated communications agency, which is a member of WPP, one of the world’s largest communications groups.
The International Advertising Association (IAA) was established in 1938 in New York, USA, and has 56 Chapters in 76 countries including Bahrain. It held its global meeting and conference in the Romanian capital of Bucharest from 1st to 5th October, which was attended by delegates from many countries, representing leading advertisers, media, advertising agencies, academics and other international personalities and companies from various advertising sectors and related marketing disciplines.
